Welcome to High Performance Computing at the College of the Environment! Please use this checklist to help us get your team set up with Hyak access.
- Familiarize yourself with the core concepts in the Hyak: HPC at the College of the Environment section of my.environment.
- If you are not already familiar with the Linux command line environment, take some time to learn the key concepts of working in the CLI. There are many helpful resources online such as Labex Linuxjourney
- Read and review the College Hyak Policies and Hyak User Agreement
- Gather a list of the users who will need access to your computing resources:
- First and last name
- UW NetID
- PI name and netid
- Send an ESITS Help Request with the list of users and the PI name to request access for the users. Users will be added to an access group, and a welcome email will be sent to the users with login instructions.
- Communicate the usage policies and expectations to all the users in your group. Anyone who repeatedly uses excess resources or takes actions with prevent other users from accessing their own resources may be temporarily or permanently removed from Hyak access. All users should read and agree to the Hyak User Agreement
- Users should review the Official Hyak Documentation from University Research Computing as well as the College of the Environment Hyak documentation.
Remember: The College of the Environment Hyak group is a shared resource. Responsible use is imperative to ensure that all users have timely access to the resources they have purchased through the College.
